Second school to parade at Anhembi, this Saturday (22), Gaviões da Fiel will address the fight against racism, fascism and oppression in its presentation, and among the highlights that had been kept secret by the carnival artist Paulo Barros is a satire on President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
He will be played by the carioca based in London Neandro Ferreira, 55, and is part of the Governantes e Generalis wing. “I’m going to come as a very gay, very gay Bolsonaro, giving a lot of looks”, he tells the F5 the hair designer (a step above the good old hairdresser). Neandro promises to go further: he will raise, in the middle of the avenue, “and more than once” a sign with the words “Fora Bolsonaro”.
The role of the carioca in the parade is consistent with what was presented by the school when announcing the synopsis of the plot “Basta!”. Gaviões promised to promote “an uprising with subversive impetus” and anti-fascist in the sambadrome.
The samba has Marcelo Adnet among the composers, and its lyrics cite recent episodes of racism and other human rights violations. It also brings references to important names for social movements, such as the former president of South Africa and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nelson Mandela, and Cacique Raoni, a pioneer indigenous leader in the fight for the preservation of the Amazon.
Adnet, considered one of the best imitators of the president in the country, was the composer of the samba-protest “O Conto do Vigário”, which the Rio school São Clemente paraded in Sapucaí in 2020, when he also played Bolsonaro on top of a car. He even performed awkward push-ups and salutes, acts and gestures that are frequent in the presidential repertoire.
In the version that Gaviões will show in its parade, the politician will be accompanied by the first lady, Michelle Bolsonaro, played by hairdresser Gisele Porto, from Brasilândia (north of São Paulo). “She will be very well treated, revered and courted by the president I will play,” says Neandro.
“I’m going to do everything exactly the opposite of the way he does it. It’s really a manifesto against machismo, fascism and prejudice”, says the hairdresser, who had among his clients the Icelandic singer Björk, the British stylist Alexander McQueen (1969- 2010) and actresses such as Maria Fernanda Cândido, Alessandra Negrini, Andréia Horta and Camila Queiroz.
CHECK THE SAMBA-ENREDO LYRICS:
It is me….
The son of this hostile motherland
Heir to the slave quarters Brazil
Hostage of the tainted inquisition
Axé my brother!
The father of another João and another Miguel
In the sight of blind justice
Who sees the black as a defendant
I am the cry of the favela
The village chant, the ghetto hunger
My fist is Mandela’s light
In samba the uprising of the new Soweto
Chief Raoni of my people
Hawk Warrior, present!
This land belongs to those who have more
Conquered through pain
The crumbs you offer me
They only increase my strength to show my worth
My place of speech, the fearless voice
Head held high for our rights
When the fascism of the asphalt
It is oppressive to militancy out of respect
The womb of social ills
In the face of prejudice, you will free yourself
Black lives matter to us
The woman’s cry will not be silenced
My Hawk came the day of the revolution
Where the democracy of my Brazil
Make love sing louder than the rifle
hear my cry
oh beloved homeland
It’s time for the fight to get out of paper
Enough is the cry that lulls the people
I am Gaviões, I am the voice of the Faithful
