‘It’s Carnival to celebrate life’, says Sabrina Sato when starting parade marathon

by

Presenter Sabrina Sato, 41, was greeted by fans screaming “Sabrina, I love you!”, and replied: “I miss you, this is Carnival to celebrate life.”

Queen of drums at Gaviões da Fiel, in São Paulo, she left the Holliday Inn hotel on her way to the Anhembi Sambadrome, surrounded by six security guards and followed by admirers.

This Saturday (23), Sabrina will have to face a marathon, as she parades on the same night as queen of the drums of Vila Isabel, in Rio de Janeiro. She will have three hours to travel between the capitals.

The artist goes to Rio by jet, where she says she will take “a car or a motorcycle” to get to Sapucaí. “It depends on when I arrive,” she said, laughing.

She has already completed 17 years ahead of the drums at the São Paulo school and 12 with the carioca. “It’s going to be a marathon that I never, in my life, imagined I would do. I think it’s going to be the only time that the two schools I love will fall on the same night,” she said.

She said that the situation scares, “but when he has love, he always conquers fear”. “And that’s what I feel for life and for Gaviões, it’s love.” “The most important thing is to be protected. I’ve protected myself emotionally, physically and spiritually,” she followed.

The samba-enredo of the Gaviões da Fiel school has comedian Marcelo Adnet, 40, among its composers. The lyrics have a political content, talk about fascism, social ills and the “blind justice that sees the black as a defendant”.

“This Gaviões plot is very important, it will be a beautiful parade, I came [vestida de] hawk because he represents strength and courage, and we need that to see all these bad days in our country”, pointed out the presenter.
