The first open Festival of Athens with the signature of the Municipality of Athens premieres in May in the capital. This is Athens City Festival is a celebration for all Athenians and visitors to the city, with more than 100 activities from the field of culture, entertainment, gastronomy and sports.
For four weeks, from the 1st of May until the end of the monththe Festival will fill Athens with images and sounds, in a true atmosphere of celebration, returning to the city, after two difficult years of pandemic.
In the context of actions, Athenian museums, cultural institutions, organizations and companies open their doors to welcome Greeks and foreign visitorswhile at the same time being organized concerts -in the streets, parks and galleries-, themed walking and cycling routes, gastronomic evenings and sports activities in the countryside.
Picnic, party in Varvakeio, but also a jazz concert
The agenda of This is Athens City Festival includes a complete program, with emphasis on original actions: From an entertaining all-day picnic at Plato Academy and a street party at Varvakeio to a walk of special interest at the Athens Observatory and a jazz concert on the veranda of the Acropolis Museum. Each event highlights a different point, bringing together Athenians with their city, and visitors with the powerful experiences offered by the capital.

Through the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens (EATA)which has undertaken the implementation of This is Athens City Festival, took place an open call to all companies, collective bodies and institutions related to culture, in order to either propose new actions or to include the existing ones in the Festival. The result was an extroverted, open-ended program for everyone, with more than 100 high-quality events throughout the city.
