Big news to the public and to people in Hollywood in general, was caused a few days ago by the news that Justin Lin is leaving the direction of the new Fast & Furious and while the shooting had already begun.
Lin has linked his name to the franchise’s gig, having directed five of the films, most recently F9, and has already begun work on Fast X, which will split into two films and be the grand finale.
The announcement spoke of artistic differences, which between us now means that he probably had a fight with Vin Diesel, so the film is looking for a new director.
According to Variety, this case could cost Universal up to a million dollars a day, as the units are in place and have already started.
So there is a road race to find a new director, but again, even if it is announced immediately, it will take some time to get into the process. At the moment, the burden has fallen on the second shooting unit that was in England without Lin to do additional shooting, while the central unit remains in the USA waiting for the new director. The premiere date for Fast X is set for May 23, 2023.
