For the first time this year in the history of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, after the Frankfurt International Book Fair, its publications travel to the Thessaloniki International Book Fair (November 25-28). In the exhibition, the public can look for the publications that took place under the artistic direction of Katerina Evangelatou from 2020 onwards, publications with a special artistic and literary stigma, which maintain a separate independence from the artistic program. These include new plays, Greek and foreign, in separate translations, theoretical essays by authors, theorists, curators or artists in an original conversation with the art of typography, dramatic excerpts in dialogue with the Festival theaters through a modern photographic prism and art. Specifically, the festival publications include:
– The photo album “Waiting places. The theaters of the Festival in the era of the pandemic “(Photos by Michalis Kloukina)
A collector’s edition that highlights the favorite venues of the Athens Epidaurus Festival (Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, Small Theater of Ancient Epidaurus, Herodio and Piraeus 260), waiting for audiences and creators, during the pandemic. The photography of the theaters by Michalis Kloukinas converses dramatically with selected excerpts from theatrical works of the world repertoire from performances of the original artistic programming of 2020, which were not realized. Greek and English versions are available. Artistic curation: Nowhere Studio.
– The detailed catalog of the artistic program 2021 (Greek & English version)
An art book that captures the richness of the artistic program differently than ever. Includes informative directorial, dramatic or musicological notes that accompany the presentations of the Festival’s performances or concerts, as well as essay texts written by commissioned authors, theorists, curators or artists for the themes and cycles of the program (Layers of Street: Elias Chatzigeorgiou, Gender Identities: ‘Angela Dimitrakaki, Cycle 1821: Dimitris Papanikolaou, Unexpected Conversations: Sofia Kompotiati, Contemporary Ancients Circle: Dimitra Kondylaki).

A particularly elegant, bilingual edition for the artistic, interactive installation of the artist that was presented at the Small Theater of Ancient Epidaurus. In addition to accompanying material for the exhibition, the catalog, which includes works of art and rich photographic material from the installation, is also a stand-alone art book, which examines, with philosophical reflection, the connections between the pandemic, nature, technology and human factor.
