Vitão says he switched from ‘daily marijuana to reading’: ‘It was super difficult’

A turning year. For Victor Carvalho Ferreira, known as Vitão, 2022 arrived to mark his musical beginning, but also a new phase in his personal life. As a result, he says he already feels more empowered than ever. “[É o ano] to collect all my pieces that were broken and put together a new puzzle”, says the 22-year-old artist. “[Quero] follow and find me again.”

The singer has had to deal with a lot of criticism and attacks on the internet in recent times, both for his work and for his relationship with singer Luisa Sonza, 23, between 2020 and 2021. However, he sees that the turbulent period was important to grow. “Nobody gets stronger by receiving affection, we get stronger by being punched. These last two years were like that”, he adds.

Her focus now is on taking care of her health, for issues beyond aesthetics. He is improving his diet, exercise and sleep routine, and dedicating himself to having a healthier life, body and habits. “I switched from daily marijuana to daily reading, it has already messed with my head in a bizarre way,” he says in a video interview called F5. “It was super difficult, but I’m managing to do it.”

The singer’s favorite style of books is currently being biographies, although he has reread “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas”, which strays from that style. The stories of guitarists Slash of Guns N’ Roses and Angus Young of AC/DC are among the works he has read recently. “As an artist, I mirror myself in the lives of these people and I can learn from mistakes, virtues and achievements… How many artists have died too soon because of bad habits?”, says he, who is finishing the biography of Raul Seixas (1945 – 1989). ).

One of his goals with changing habits is also to have a musical longevity, to continue working and having relevance until the end of his life. “I want to crush Brazil of music, throw music everywhere until no one can say an ‘a’ about me”, completes him, who released his latest single, “Declaração”, on Thursday (5) and whose video it had almost 800,000 views this Tuesday.

Vitão says that the song was written two years ago, while it was going through its most turbulent period, but now he has managed to give the song another meaning. “I’m entering a phase of my life of a lot of self-knowledge and that will expand to my music. It’s a turning point”, he says.

In the midst of so many changes, the singer has also discovered new hobbies and ways to express himself, such as through clothes and makeup. “Aesthetics as a way of communicating. My aesthetics bring more and more freedom and plurality,” he says.

But does this phase of change include a new love? The singer says no. “I’m not in a very romantic phase,” says he, who recently spoke about the concept of sexuality in society and how it “boxes us in.” Asked about the matter by F5he declined to comment.

“Is this not much more of a social and religious creation than, in fact, our nature as a human being. Maybe we are simpler than that, maybe we just liked to lean against each other, to love each other, independently? of gender, clothing or anything,” he said on social media in an outburst tone. “This is my question, I just want to generate debate and discussion. This is what artists do”.
