Comedian and influencer Lorrane Silva, known as Pequena Lô, 26, took to social media to counter prejudiced comments and jokes made by those who don’t like her about her disability. Lô has bone dysplasia, a syndrome that affects her physical development and mobility.
“Learn to respect the work of the other. No one will ever please 100% of the population, but respect comes first. If I don’t like someone, why should I say that on the person’s profile? Besides hurting the other, I don’t have that right,” he began.
The first jokes started on Twitter, but then she turned to Instagram to vent after a lot of people started tagging the comedian in some discriminatory posts.
“People think they’re funny and start to offend my disability, and that’s rotten, dirty, awful. These are people who don’t accept that we’re being seen and recognized.”
The influencer says she just wants to be able to do her job and that no one will be able to stop her evolution. “Learn to respect what you don’t like. I know it’s hard, but it must be worked on. There’s going to be a lot of disabled people taking up space,” she vented.
This is not the first time that Pequena Lô has had public problems with the syndrome. In December 2021, she was prevented from boarding a flight because of the scooter (a kind of adapted scooter) she uses to get around.
Asked about the incident, Azul sent a note acknowledging the error, citing that the incident was related to the model of the battery used in Pequena Lô’s scooter.
