“Hibernation” is known to occur in some species of animals, in order to survive the low winter temperatures and lack of food.
So something similar happens to people, but from a psychological point of view. It’s a way to get by when you can not get by. To be able to survive when this seems impossible.
And while it may sound depressing – and it may be – something more or less the same thing has happened to everyone. These are the moments when everything goes wrong, everything is wrong and you do not know where to do and where to turn. Something serious may have happened, you may have had a traumatic experience and you may need time to get over it. Or again, going through a phase of change and wanting to redefine.
So whatever happens to you, the body knows how to heal it. And there are many times when the way is to just lie in your bed, hood and stay there forever. Well not forever, but as much as you need to feel better.
Although this tactic is misunderstood, as many associate it with procrastination, it is truly therapeutic. By closing in on your cocoon, disconnecting and isolating yourself, you manage to distance yourself from the outside world and focus on your inside.
It is a necessary process, in order for your wounds to heal and to find yourself again. In other words, you get the time you need to “heal”. You give, in a way, the opportunity to move away from what is hurting you and to approach it differently.
As the psychotherapist Dr. explains. Jenn Anders, aka the stress guru, in this way, this inner isolation, you will enter a process of re-examining your life and your choices, something that will only do you good.
Basically, what happens when you fall into “hibernation” is that you pull yourself out of stressful situations to detoxify, from their negative energy.
“Hibernation” is a natural process, which should not be ignored or underestimated.
So trust your body to heal your spirit.
