Kate wore a long black Roland Mouret dress with an off-the-shoulder white neckline. She opted for her hair down, but worn behind her ears, which highlighted the earrings.
While Prince William went with a classic black tuxedo and bow tie, he had fun with the evening’s theme through his shoes. He wore Crockett & Jones loafers embroidered with F18 planes.
The prince, who was a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot, and Kate were introduced to other cast members such as Jennifer Connelly and Miles Teller, who plays the son of Cruise’s friend Goose from the original film.
Gentleman, Cruise offered Kate his hand as she climbed some stairs at one point in the night.
At the London premiere, it will not be the first time that Prince William and Kate will see the highly anticipated film. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reportedly received a special screening of the Top Gun sequel at the invitation of Cruise, who heard that William was a fan of the original 1986 film.
“We have a lot in common,” Cruise said of the royals at the premiere, according to My London. “We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love to fly.”
