It takes 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise to reduce the risk of the coronavirus to a degree.
the tactic physical exercise is associated with a lower risk of Covid-19, either a simple infection or a serious one that requires hospitalization and can lead to death, shows a new Spanish study that took into account data from several countries. 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise during the week or 75 minutes of high-intensity exercise is enough to reduce the risk of the coronavirus to a degree.
The researchers, led by Dr. Antonio GarcÃa-Hermozo of the University and University Hospital of Navarre, who made the relevant publication in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, evaluated 16 studies from November 2019 to March 2022, the which involved a total of approximately 1.85 million adults with an average age of 53 years.
The study (systematic review and meta-analysis) found that regular exercisers had an average 11% lower risk of becoming ill with Covid-19, a 36% lower risk of hospital admission, 44% lower risk of severe Covid-19 disease and 43% lower risk of death, compared to people who are physically inactive.
Previous studies have shown that exercise can generally reduce the risk and severity of various respiratory infections because it enhances the immune system and the body’s anti-inflammatory response, as well as cardiorespiratory, metabolic and muscle fitness.
