Sarigiannis on SKAI: With a self-test the return to schools – How the image of the pandemic can change in September

by

“Opening schools with any measure may be okay for September 12, but I don’t know if it will be okay for September 29,” the professor emphasized

Regarding the possibility of a “change of scenery” of the pandemic, the professor of Environmental Engineering spoke to SKAI and to the show “Morning Update”, Demosthenes Sarigiannis.

The professor explained that after mid-September there may be an increase in cases or else a change in the slope of the epidemiological curve, due to mutant strains now prevailing or due to new variants.

“The reason for the de-escalation that started on July 15 is the fact that at the local level, in the tourist places, a large percentage of natural immunity developed because a lot of people got infected, we didn’t do anything to stop Omicron 4-5. Returning to Athens and other major cities from vacation things may change. The cases will enter a much larger “reservoir”, Mr. Sarigiannis specifically stated

Regarding the opening of schools, he emphasized that it would be good for the students to return to the desks after doing one self test while regarding the imposition of measures, he emphasized that “opening the schools with any measure may be OK for September 12” but he does not know, as he said, “if it will be “ok” for September 29″.

In any case he said that for these days it will continue to exist drop in epidemiological indicators however, a slight slowdown is expected due to the August 15th celebrations.
