Free examinations for the prevention of osteoporosis by the Municipality of Athens

From tomorrow, Thursday, October 20, until Thursday, November 3, interested parties, men and women over the age of 18, will be able to contact the Municipal Clinics of the Municipality of Athens

From October 20 – World Osteoporosis Day – to November 3, at the Municipal Clinics of Athens, the Municipality of Athens, through the Directorate of Municipal Clinics and Public Health, conducts free examinations for the prevention and early diagnosis of the disease.

Thus, in collaboration with the National Intermunicipal Network of Healthy Cities – Health Promotion (EDDYPPY), from tomorrow, Thursday, October 20, until Thursday, November 3, those interested, men and women over the age of 18, will be able to contact the Municipal Clinics of the Municipality of Athens , in order to undergo bone density measurements (using special equipment by specialized personnel, under the supervision of a doctor) and, if deemed necessary, to be referred for further examinations.

The action will take place at the Municipal Clinics, according to the following schedule:

– Thursday 20/10 – Friday 21/10 | 08:00 – 14:00

1st Municipal Clinic – Athens (78 Solonos – tel. 210 3626587)

– Monday 24/10 – Tuesday 25/10 | 08:00 – 14:00

6th Municipal Clinic – Kypseli (Chania 4B – tel. 210 8836200)

– Wednesday 26/10 – Thursday 27/10 | 08:00 – 14:00

2nd Municipal Clinic – Neos Kosmos (Fanosthenous and Fredericou Smith – tel. 210 9239865)

– Monday 31/10 – Tuesday 1/11 | 08:00 – 14:00

3rd Municipal Clinic – Petralona (Thessaloniki and Heraklion – tel. 210 3427515)

– Wednesday 2/11 – Thursday 3/11 | 08:00 – 14:00

4th Municipal Clinic – Kolonos (Propontidos and Agia Sophia 110, tel. 210 8836200)

It is noted that a priority order will be observed after a telephone appointment. In case there are previous exams and measurements, it is suggested that they be presented during the exam.

In his statement, the mayor of Athens, Costas Bakoyannis, emphasizes: “Actions like the one we are launching tomorrow in our municipal clinics prove the interest of this municipal authority to support prevention and strengthen primary care for all our citizens, and especially for the vulnerable. We strengthen our polyclinics, strengthen their potential with new recruitments and new specialties. The response we receive to all our actions is impressive. Our goal is to continue to cover – from the bottom up – even more needs in the health sector, implementing pioneering actions in all municipal clinics”.
