In the reference week, 52,966 cases of COVID-19 were recorded (5,077 per million population: -4% weekly change) of which reinfections account for 22% of infections. The total number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 5,135,200 of which 52.1% are women. 2The 𝑅𝑡 for the territory based on cases is estimated at 0.96 (95% CI: 0.79 – 1.03).
The total number of admissions to the territory’s hospitals in the reference week was 1,291 patients (7-month period: 184, -5% weekly change), while the total number of discharges amounted to 1,095 patients (7-month period: 156, 13% weekly change).3 The number of intubated patients by the end of the reporting week is 82 (65.9% male) with a median age of 74 years and 97.6% having an underlying disease and/or age of 70 years or older.
In the reference week, 138 deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded (13 per million population: 23% weekly change) of which 14 (10%) died after at least 29 days from the date of laboratory confirmation of the COVID-19 infection, while from since the beginning of the epidemic, a total of 33,574 deaths have been recorded, with 96.0% having an underlying disease and/or age 70 years or older.
The median age of the cases is 39 years, while the median age of the dead is 80 years.
Diagram 5 shows the percentage by age group of cases, hospitalized in ICUs and patients who died in the last three weeks.
Tested samples
In the reporting week, the positivity rate was 7.66% in a total of 691,863 laboratory tests (RT-PCR/Rapid-Ag) with a seven-day average of 98,838 samples (0% weekly change).
From January 1, 2020 to October 23, 2022, in the laboratories that carry out tests for SARSCoV-2 and that systematically declare all the samples they test, a total of 12,859,094 have been tested (7-month AD: 9,699, -1% weekly change) clinical samples, while 84,063,438 samples have been tested by Health Units and Levels of the EODY that carry out Rapid Ag tests (7-month AD: 89,138, 0% weekly change).
