by

In another day in which some states claim to have pandemic data affected by the cyber attack on the Ministry of Health’s systems, Brazil recorded 126 deaths by Covid and 2,843 cases of the disease, this Saturday. Thus, the country completed eight consecutive days with moving averages of deaths below 200 per day.

Among the states that said there were problems in updating data on deaths and cases caused by the attack are Rio Grande do Sul, Tocantins, Roraima and RondĂ´nia and Santa Catarina.

As a result, the country has lost 616,859 lives and 22,185,663 infections by Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The moving averages of deaths and cases were down by, respectively, 21% and 22%, compared to data from two weeks ago. The average death rate is now 179 a day, and infection is 7,098 a day.

Country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between leaf, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

Data on vaccination against Covid-19 are among those affected, in several states, by the attack on the ministry’s website. In any case, the information has been at least partially updated in 12 states.

Brazil registered 397,167 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Saturday. According to data from the state health departments, there were 158,194 first doses, 80,055 second doses. In addition, 1,334 single doses and 157,584 booster doses were recorded.

In all, 160,218,285 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil —134,680,083 of them have already received the second dose of the immunizing agent. Added to the single doses of the Janssen vaccine against Covid, there are already 139,310,688 people with both doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 75.11% of the population with the 1st dose and 65.31% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine. Considering only the adult population, the values are, respectively, 98.84% and 85.95%.

Even those who received two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine must maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distance, experts say

The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles took place in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and took information off the air, with the interruption of the dissemination of total cases and deaths. In addition, the government released conflicting data.
