Influenza cases are increasing in our country with the EODY recording 23 new incidents in the previous week (November 28 – December 4), while at the same time, visits to a doctor also showed an increase of 41.5%. Also, a man lost his life.
In detail, as EODY states in its weekly report, during the week of November 28 – December 4, 2022, visits to a doctor for flu assistance show a 41.5% increase compared to the previous week. In the two National Influenza Reference Laboratories, a total of 61 clinical samples were tested for influenza viruses, namely 11 from hospitals and 50 from the Sentinel System. 23 (37.7%) of them were positive for type A influenza viruses and belonged to the A(H3N2) subtype.
At the same time, in the same week, five serious cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza were recorded with hospitalization in a hospital, one of which died.
The EODY emphasizes the importance of influenza vaccination as the best way to prevent the flu.
