by

ICU beds (intensive care unit) intended for patients with Covid-19 in Mato Grosso reached 100% capacity this week, according to the State Department of Health. In view of the increase in the index, the folder filed a notification for the opening of more vacancies in Cuiabá, as a matter of urgency, last Tuesday (27).

According to the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, the request is given because “the city does not currently have any open Covid-19 ICU beds available to the Cuiaba population and only five pediatric ICU beds are in operation in the municipality. “.

The Cuiabá Health Secretariat, in turn, said that it continues to monitor cases and comply with the plan to combat the virus, but did not detail how many vacancies it intends to open.

In all, there are 38 adult beds in the state public network, 20 of which are at the Hospital Metropolitano, in Várzea Grande, and 18 at the Regional Hospital Hilda Strenger Ribeiro, in Nova Mutum.

The increase in cases of Covid in Mato Grosso led the Secretary of State for Health to notify, at the beginning of the month, the 141 municipalities about the increase in contagion.

“The state network kept clinical and ICU beds in operation, but it has a Covid-19 ICU bed admission rate of 100%.

An ordinance was also published suspending visits and the presence of companions in hospitals managed by the state.

The secretariat points out that 92.9% of municipalities are on the risk classification list for transmission of Covid. There are 51 cities at very high risk, 43 at high risk, 23 at moderate risk and 14 at low risk.

Regarding children’s ICU beds, the state secretariat’s panel shows that the occupancy rate is at 20%. Of the five vacancies available, one is occupied.

According to the latest epidemiological bulletin released by the secretariat, Mato Grosso has 856,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19. The number of deaths reaches 15.2 thousand.

In Cuiabá, the number of diagnosed cases is 147.7 thousand. The bulletin also records that the number of deaths from Covid-19 in the municipality is 3,727. Thus, the lethality rate of the disease in the capital is 2.5%.
