Intangible prescribing functions as a “key” to the new digital tools, the Minister of Digital Governance points out

“When we started our collaboration with the Ministry of Health, our central aim was for digital media to contribute to developing more friendly health services. We chose to utilize tthe successful system of electronic prescribing developing it and opening it to the citizens” writes the Minister of Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrrakakis, in his Facebook post and continues: “Thus, we initially created the immaterial prescription, through which the citizen receives his medical prescriptions by SMS and e-mail .

Intangible prescribing has been a cornerstone of our strategy as we continually expand its functionality by adding new capabilities. Already medical referrals and medical certificates are issued immaterially, while in the coming days hospitalization certificates and diagnostic tests will be added”.

As the minister points out, “the immaterial prescription works as “key” of the new digital tools we implement. This is what we did in vaccination, with the personalized appointment suggestions we sent to those enrolled in the physical prescription. That’s what we did in the MyHealth app, our WITSA World Innovation and Technology Services Association award-winning app. And that’s what we do with preventive screenings, starting with the “Fofi Gennimata” program that deals with breast cancer screenings for women aged 50-69. To date, more than 65,000 digital mammograms have already been performed for free. Thanks to this specific action, more than 4,150 women were diagnosed in time with findings and started the path of treatment”.

As it typically states, “the preventive medicine program is expanding in 2023. Through an innovative system for Greece, citizens receive their referral for preventive examinations corresponding to their gender and age by text message. And this is done completely free of charge and without unnecessary procedures.

Today more of 4 million citizens have registered in the immaterial prescription, with just a few clicks via https://ehealth.gov.gr. As Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has emphasized, digital policy is a social policy, with added value for our weakest fellow citizens. Through the implementation of our strategy, we want citizens to be able to take care of their health on time, easily and quickly, through simple digital services and applications” concludes Mr. Pierrakakis.
