Brazil recorded 53,419 cases of Covid, this Friday (7). As a result, the moving average of infections rose by 23,338 per day, up 639% from two weeks ago.
The country also recorded 148 deaths from the disease. The average number of deaths is now 110 and, as a result, remains stable, that is, without variations above 15%.
With this Friday’s data, Brazil reaches 619,878 lives lost and 22,448,741 people infected since the beginning of the pandemic.
The spread of the super contagious omicron variant of Covid added to the holiday season may be factors that explain the recent jump in cases of the disease. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine against Covid, there are already 144,226,230 people with both doses or with one dose of Janssen vaccine.
Thus, the country already has 75.76% of the population with the 1st dose and 67.61% of Brazilians with both doses or with one dose of the Janssen vaccine. Considering only the adult population, the values are, respectively, 99.70% and 88.98%.
Even those who received both doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine should maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distancing, experts say.
