In the last period of time, the phenomenon is observed, the quantities of the pharmaceutical preparation “Ozempic inj.sol” traded by the company to pharmacies to be almost non-existent and not sufficient to meet its ever-increasing demand and prescription, reports the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association (PFS).

“Despite the implementation of the therapeutic protocols and despite the inclusion of the specific preparation in the export ban list and its exclusive administration only by electronic prescription, everything shows that for this specific case, the measures taken are not satisfactory”, notes the PFS.

Suggestj “to further check doctors for the possibility of issuing false opinions, as a result of which therapeutic protocols are bypassed and the approved indications for administering the drug only to patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus are not observed. Because it is panthomologized that it is ultimately prescribed for weight control , with many users of the drug attesting to it!!”.

This also has the effect, reports the PFS, of the prospect of new patients being included in the treatment with the preparation in question becoming uncertain and problematic, where there really is a need based on the use of therapeutic protocols.

According to the PFS, all this distortion in the availability of the drug drags along and creates a huge problem in preparations that belong to the wider therapeutic category of DM (Trulicity, Saxenda, Victoza, etc.). Also, a major issue of Public Health arises, for those patients who already have begin to receive chronic treatment with the said medicinal preparations as the insufficient supply of the market, makes their permanent treatment doubtful.

PFS asks “finally the control mechanisms should work in every direction to ensure the rational use of drugs of the specific category, based on the approved indications and protocols. Also, the EOF should check the companies in question to determine whether domestic needs are covered.”
