An announcement was issued by EOF about drug Ozempic and the articles that have been published about its effectiveness in slimming.

Among other things it is stated that “EOF informs that according to pharmaceutical legislation this is illegal advertising and calls on all websites to withdraw any reference to this prescription preparation”. At another point, he states that it is clear that “all this publicity is expected to direct a part of consumers to the supply of medicine from illegal sources, with a great risk to their health” while calling on consumers “not to be led astray by publications and to decide on the taking weight loss medications, especially if they haven’t consulted a specialist.”

The announcement in detail:

Recently, many articles have been written and published about the prescription diabetes drug OZEMPIC and its effectiveness in weight loss.

The EOF informs that according to pharmaceutical legislation this is illegal advertising and calls on all websites to withdraw any reference to this prescription drug.

Consumers are asked to be very cautious in entering into the process of using a drug for such a reason (slimming), as well as for the accuracy of the information reproduced in the press.

The EOF also informs that recently there have been reports from some competent authorities in the EU. for illegal online sales of falsified (counterfeit) OZEMPIC found abroad. Usually behind these sales there are criminal organizations.

It is therefore clear that all this publicity is expected to direct a part of consumers to the supply of medicine from illegal sources, with great risk to their health.

According to the pharmaceutical legislation, any advertisement of a prescription drug to the public is prohibited. Advertising is permitted only in the form of medical information, i.e. to health professionals who prescribe it, and only by the responsible companies and under the strict conditions of the legislation.
This prohibition is a safety net for the protection of the consumer and the patient, given that for this category of drugs the attending physician is the one who decides on the diagnosis and the appropriate treatment. Even more so when a product is displayed for reasons not foreseen by the essential information of the drug.

The press is requested to immediately withdraw any publication of this prescribed drug (or any other as well) and is also requested to inform the EOF ([email protected]) of the original source of the information.

Pharmacists are requested to dispose of the medicine according to the method of disposal, i.e. only on prescription

Consumers are requested not to be swayed by reports and decide to take weight loss products, especially if they have not consulted a specialist.

Also, under no circumstances should he get medicines from unreliable sources, such as the internet, because there is a real risk to his health.
