City of São Paulo opens vaccine xepa for children

by

The City Hall of São Paulo opened xepa of vaccines for children from 5 to 11 years old to take advantage of doses from open vials that until the end of the day were not fully used in the UBSs (Basic Health Units).

These remaining doses will be for any child in this age group, even those who are not part of the priority group — with comorbidities, disabilities, and indigenous and quilombola.

To get immunization at xepa, the person responsible needs to register the child’s name at the UBS closest to home. In case of surplus, an employee of the unit will call for application of the dose before the closing of the post.

According to the municipal secretary of Health, Edson Aparecido, each bottle has ten doses that need to be applied within 12 hours after opening the package.

The vaccination of children in the capital of São Paulo began this Monday (17). In this first group, the public aged 5 to 11 years with comorbidities, the disabled, indigenous and quilombolas will be vaccinated.

Vaccination by age group, in descending order, should only start from February 10th.

The capital of São Paulo received 64 thousand doses on Friday (14). The prefecture expects to vaccinate 235,000 children in this priority group. Another batch is expected for this Wednesday (19). “As the city vaccinates quickly, these doses may run out tomorrow,” said Aparecido.

In the capital of São Paulo, vaccination of children begins at 8 am at the posts, one hour later than adults.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over 18 years of age. You must bring a vaccination card and proof of comorbidity or disability.
