Tzanakis to SKAI: I’m sure about the appearance of a new executive – The two scenarios

by

Nikos Tzanakis, Professor of Pulmonology at the University of Crete, told SKAI that a new strain of the coronavirus will appear, talking about “Wave on wave”.

“Possibly to see and deterioration of indicators if a new sub-variant appears. “A wave on the wave, maybe a bigger outbreak is expected, the virus has not exhausted its surprises,” he warned.

He expressed the hope that “the new executive will be less pathogenic and will not burden the NSS”, but pointed out that he is against a ban, saying that “we should not close, but take targeted measures with society outside”.

The two scenarios

The professor talked about two scenarios, one not to fall into cases all of February, or most of the month, with 15,000 to 20,000 cases of moving averages, and the worst case scenario, there is a possibility of recurrence according to the epidemiological pattern of other countries.

He stressed that “in Crete we have at least 90% Omicron in both hospitalizations and cases, little by little in the ICU “. “Obviously Omicron does not have the same morbidity as Delta, but it will also provide treatment at a reduced rate,” he explained.

“We expected the death toll to start decreasing this week, it does not show that, we are in 2 weeks of peak we hope in the coming days to see less than 90 dead a day and gradually fall further,” he noted.
