São Paulo vaccinates 50% of children aged 5 to 11 against Covid-19

by

According to data from the Vacinometer from 18:08 this Monday (7), the state of São Paulo already has 2,002,162 children who have been immunized against Covid-19 in recent weeks. This number represents the percentage of 50% of children aged 5 to 11 years vaccinated with at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“Our goal is to further accelerate the immunization of children, protect children and reduce the transmission of Covid throughout the territory, ensuring safety not only for them, but for the entire population. Vaccines are safe and parents and guardians must seek a closer vaccination post and take their children”, highlights the coordinator of the State Immunization Plan (PEI), Regiane de Paula.

According to the government, all municipalities have already received enough doses to vaccinate 100% of children with at least one dose. In total, the folder has already made available 4 million doses of Coronavac and nearly one million pediatric doses of Pfizer. Children aged 5 years and immunosuppressed aged 5 to 11 years can only receive the immunizer from Pfizer, while the others can be protected by Coronavac.

Childhood vaccination began in São Paulo on January 14, with children with comorbidities. On the 20th, with the approval of Coronavac by Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency), the state expanded vaccination and began to immunize children from 9 to 11 years old.

Children’s vaccinometer and pre-registration

Information on childhood vaccination is available on the vaccinometer and can be checked on the Vacina Já website, and on the São Paulo Government portal.

On the website it is also possible to pre-register for vaccination. It is optional and is not an appointment, but it speeds up service at immunization sites, avoiding queues and agglomerations. To register their children, parents or guardians must access the website, click on the “Children under 11” button and fill out the online form.
