EMA: Review reports of disorders in women after mRNA vaccines

by

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) announced that it was reviewing reports of heavy menstrual bleeding or the absence of menstruation after vaccination with Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna mRNAs.

According to Reuters, the evaluation was made after reports of menstrual disorders after receiving both vaccines, while it is not yet clear whether there was a causal link between the vaccines against Covid-19 and the reports, the service noted.

The EMA said in December that it had not found a link between changes in menstrual cycles and the Covid-19 vaccine.

A previous study in Norway found that some women had heavier periods after vaccination.

The agency added on Friday that there was also no evidence that the Covid-19 vaccine had affected fertility.

After reviewing the available data, the EMA Pharmacovigilance Committee (PRAC) said it had decided to request an evaluation of all available data, including reports from patients and health professionals, clinical trials and published literature.
