Brazil recorded more than 1,000 deaths from Covid again this Friday (11). There were 1,121 deaths and 166,528 cases of Covid.
The country thus reaches 637,232 lives lost and 27,292,040 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The moving average of deaths continues to grow and reached 880 deaths per day, an increase of 68% compared to the data of two weeks ago. The average number of cases now stands at 139,001 infections per day, down 24% from the data from two weeks ago.
The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between leaf, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disclose the numbers related to the new coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.
Vaccination data against Covid-19 was affected by the hacker attack on the Ministry of Health system, which took place in December, which led to the lack of updates in several states for long periods of time. This Friday, the information was updated in 24 states and the Federal District.
The consortium of press vehicles recently updated the Brazilian population numbers used to calculate the percentage of people vaccinated in the country. Brazil registered 1,923,653 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Friday. According to data from the state health departments, there were 681,056 first doses and 284,664 second doses. 2,502 single doses and 955,431 booster doses were also recorded.
Amazonas and Ceará had negative records of single doses. Respectively, -6 and -406.
In all, 168,786,215 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil —147,618,532 of them have already received the second dose of the immunizer. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine against Covid, there are already 152,299,767 people with both doses or with one dose of Janssen vaccine.
Thus, the country already has 78.57% of the population with the 1st dose and 70.89% of Brazilians with both doses or with one dose of the Janssen vaccine. Considering only the adult population, the values are, respectively, 104.33% and 94.14%.
Only 25.78% of the population has taken a booster dose so far.
The consortium also started recording the doses of vaccines given to children. The population aged 5 to 11 years partially immunized (with only the first dose of vaccine received) is 26.27%.
Considering the entire population over 5 years, 84.33% received one dose and 76.09% received two doses or the Janssen single dose vaccine.
Even those who received both doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine should maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distancing, say experts.
