He is the first orthopedic surgeon to be certified as a Master Surgeon in Joint Replacement in Greece.
An important distinction was received by Mr. Stavros Aleuroyiannis, Orthopedic Surgeon, Director of the Clinic for Robotic Orthopedic Knee and Hip Surgery of the Metropolitan General Hospital, who was recently certified by the international body SRC (Surgical Review Corporation) as Master Surgeon in Joint Replacement.
Mr. Aleuroyiannis is the first Orthopedic Surgeon to receive this certification in Greece, which recognizes the commitment and high level of providing quality care and safety to patients, in the field of arthroplasty.
What does SRC certification mean?
SRC-certified surgeon means that he has met internationally recognized standards of performance safety, successful outcome and reproducibility of very good outcome in total major joint arthroplasties and adheres to strict protocols set by the institution. According to Gary M. Pratt, CEO of the SRC “this accreditation signals that the surgeon is among the best in the world in this specialty and is committed to providing the highest possible level of care.”
The inspection process ensures that the appropriate standards and requirements of the international body are met. These requirements include monitoring a high volume of surgical cases, monitoring facility equipment, clinical methods and adherence to specific operating procedures.
About Dr. Aleurogiannis
Dr. Stavros Aleuroyiannis, Orthopedic Surgeon, Director of the Metropolitan General’s Robotic Orthopedic Knee and Hip Surgery Clinic has long-term experience in arthroplasties (replacement) of large joints, while he is the only orthopedic surgeon who is accredited in all three robotic orthopedic systems used in our country in Clinics of HHG.
His great experience and expertise in new technology and artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence-AI) led him to the presentation of “Matrix” arthroplasty which constitutes the first at European level but also unique in Greece continuous digital workflow technique, both before and during the operation and also post-operatively.
What is “Matrix” arthroplasty?
The patient suffering from arthritis in a large joint undergoes a digital evaluation with special protocols to demonstrate the type of surgery that is most suitable for his particular case. He is then informed by the surgeon also digitally using special virtual reality glasses and 3D imaging, where he understands precisely the problem in his joint, while seeing the final result with the artificial joint long before the surgery takes place.
The surgeon has the possibility to pre-operatively prepare and model the affected joint and perform a virtual simulation avoiding any mistake during the operation.
The preoperative simulation model is placed in the software of the robotic system that the surgeon wants to use in the case, or placed in special glasses that interact in the operating room with the actual anatomical elements of the patient’s joint. At the same time, the most modern durable implants with surfaces made of bioimplantable noble metal alloys of zero wear are used for long-term sustainability.
