Brazil recorded 187 deaths from Covid and 16,958 cases of the disease, this Monday (14). As a result, the country has lost 655,326 lives and 29,382,196 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
On Sundays, Mondays and holidays, the pandemic data are usually lower, due to notification delays in the health secretariats.
Moving averages of deaths and cases continue to decline from two weeks ago. The average number of deaths reached 415, a reduction of 30%. The number of infections now stands at 45,087, down 31%.
The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and publish the numbers related to the new coronavirus pandemic. Regarding vaccination, Brazil recorded 519,957 doses of vaccines against Covid-19 this Monday. According to data from the state health departments, there were 344,218 second doses. 743,504 booster shots were also recorded.
There were negative records of first doses (-560,077) and single doses (-7,688). This was due to the first negative doses recorded in Bahia (-705,603), which also had second negative doses (-32,844).
Ceará recorded second negative doses (-2,554) and single negative doses (-9,975). Santa Catarina also recorded negative first doses (-1,834) and negative single doses (-10).
In all, 174,813,822 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil — 153,261,273 of them have already received the second dose of the immunizer. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s Covid vaccine, there are already 157,970,698 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine.
Thus, the country already has 81.37% of the population with the 1st dose and 73.53% of Brazilians with both doses or with one dose of the Janssen vaccine.
So far, 69,986,125 people have already taken a booster dose, which represents 32.58% of the Brazilian population.
The consortium also gathers the record of vaccine doses administered to children. The population aged 5 to 11 years partially immunized (with only the first dose of vaccine received) is 52.43%, totaling 10,747,379. In the same age group, 4.68% (959,786) received the second dose or the single dose.
Vaccination data against Covid-19 was affected by the hacker attack on the Ministry of Health system, which took place in December, which led to the lack of updates in several states for long periods of time. This Sunday, the information was updated in the 26 states and the Federal District.
The consortium of press vehicles recently updated the Brazilian population numbers used to calculate the percentage of people vaccinated in the country. Now, the data used are the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) projection for 2022. All numbers are now calculated according to these values, including last year’s.
