To February 14 We celebrate every year the World Congenital Heart Disease Daythe most common malformation that can occur when developing a fetus. Fortunately nowadays, there is the right technology to diagnose serious congenital heart disease before birth and to be treated immediately in special maternity hospitals with pediatric cardiology/ pediatric surgery groups.

The birth of the child in a special center is crucial to avoid the interference of a heavy suffering newborn under adverse conditions, which clearly burdens his prognosis. Immediate and proper treatment of the unstable newborn, as well as the child diagnosed with congenital heart disease, leads to the majority of cases in complete rehabilitation of the problem and the normal course in his life.

Sometimes congenital heart disease is diagnosed in adulthood, with easy fatigue, arrhythmias or thromboembolic episodes, but even then, the treatment is similar to excellent results. It is crucial that there is no delay in the treatment of serious diseases so as not to develop complications such as pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias, which, when delayed, may insist even after surgical or surgical rehabilitation.

With specialized controls and timely treatment, even a serious congenital heart disease is restored to ensure the continuation of a normal life, even for women of childbearing age who can also become mothers in their majority.

We are lucky nowadays that developments, know -how and excellent medical education can lead to such results, as this would not be possible a few decades ago.

Scientists internationally believe that we are at the forefront of developments and that in the future there will be a greater understanding of the gene base of fetal malformations and heart disease, with the possibility of even prenatal intervention.

It is our obligation to participate in these developments, as well as to take care of each child and their family holistically in order for each of our patients to reach the maximum of their abilities, physical, mental and spiritual.
