Hearting is a dominant cause of death in women. Very often it cannot be diagnosed properly and thus ignored as the symptoms and risk factors in women are different from men.
More women than men die of coronary heart disease, and more women die of coronary heart disease than cancer (including breast cancer), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Alzheimer’s disease and accidents together.
The purpose of this article is to present an overview of the female heart on anatomy, functions, diseases and ways to maintain healthy.
Anatomy of female heart
The female heart They are similar in size and structure to the male. It has four cavities, includes the right and left vagina and the left and right ventricle that contracts and expand successively to promote blood throughout the body. The heart is surrounded by the pericardium, a membrane that lubricates and protects the heart.
Function of the female heart
Its function is to send blood to all organs and itself. Blood enriched with oxygen and nutrients is promoted by the heart throughout the rest of the body, while blood with low oxygen and nutrients returns to the heart to oxygenate through the lungs.
It also regulates blood pressure and helps to maintain its flow firm.
Habitual diseases
Some of the most common heart disease in women are coronary heart disease, heart attack (heart attack), heart failure, valve disease and arrhythmias, more rarely myocardial disease and myocarditis
Coronary heart disease is caused by the atherosclerotic plates created in the coronary arteries that provide blood to the heart, while the heart attack (heart attack) is caused when the flow of oxygenated blood to the coronary arteries is prevented. But there is a chance for a young woman to have a heart attack and this is not due to a clot or rupture of atherosclerotic plaque in the heart vessels. It is worth noting here a pathological entity that is the number one cause of ischemic episodes-female episodes in women under 50. It is called a coronary vessel separation (SCAD) that is, the vessel is separated into its wall and this causes a state of acute infarction. 90% of cases of coronary vessel automatic separation occurs in women and especially young women who are otherwise healthy and have no risk factors.
Another cause of ischemic episodes is the spasm of the coronary vessels, which temporarily creates a significant decrease in the diameter of the coronary vessels of the heart without a clot. This is also the case with women and men and a key factor that can cause spasm is smoking. Note that young women who have a spasm of heart vessels have a worse prognosis than older women probably because young women smoke more than older women.
Heart failure is the condition in which the heart for various causes can no longer promote enough blood to meet the needs of the body. Arrhythmia is an abnormal rate and is due to damage to the heart system. Valve disease occurs when one or more heart valves do not work properly (stenosis and deficiency). The result of the above is usually shortness of breath in fatigue but also in tranquility, as well as lower extremity edema.
Differences between female and male heart
The main difference between the female and the male heart is not about her anatomy but the way heart disease manifests and evolves.
In particular, women are more common to have symptoms of coronary heart disease such as fatigue, difficulty breathing, nausea rather than chest pain that is more common in men.
As a result, in many cases women do not make the right diagnosis in time and the treatment begins with delay.
In addition, women have heart disease more often at an early age and more seriously than men. This is because women have thinner vessels and more risk factors such as smoking, high pressure, diabetes, depression, polycystic ovaries and preeclampsia that can contribute to the appearance of heart disease.
Ways to keep the female heart healthy
There are many ways to keep the female heart healthy some of whom are the following
• Healthy eating low in saturated and trans fats, high fruits and vegetables, whole grains
• Maintaining a correct weight
• The daily exercise
• Non -use tobacco products
• Anxiety management
• Monitoring and controlling pressure, cholesterol and diabetes
• The treatment of depression
• Regular Medical Monitoring and Preventive Control
• The use of hormonal rehabilitation in postmenopausal women does not seem to provide special cardiovascular protection and is not indicated for this purpose
Conclusion
The healthy heart plays an important role in the welfare of the woman.
By understanding its anatomy, function and normal diseases we can take significant steps to maintain it healthy and prevent any problems.
If we adopt a healthy lifestyle, we plan a regular medical monitoring and properly manage risk factors we can successfully protect our hearts and health.
