New study finds that those who eat 12 portions
Consuming about 12 portions of over -processed foods each day could more than double the risk of Parkinson’s disease, according to a new study.
According to the results of the study published by CNN, diet can affect the development of Parkinson’s disease.
As explained as a serving, 237 grams of soft drinks or sugar beverage, a hot dog, a slice of packaged cake, a simple tablespoon of ketchup or 30 grams of crisps – a typical small bag of potato chips is 350 grams.
“The research shows that excessive consumption of processed foods, such as sugary soft drinks and packaged snacks, can accelerate the early signs of Parkinson’s disease,” the lead author of the study said in a statement, Dr. Xiang Gao, a distinguished professor and dean of the Institute of Nutrition at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.

The study analyzed years of health and nutrition data for nearly 43,000 participants. The average age of the people involved was 48 years and no one had Parkinson’s disease.
Over -processed foods included artificial or sugar drinks, spices, sauces and fishing, packed sweets, snacks or desserts, yogurt -based desserts or dairy products, breads and cereals and packaged salty snacks.
The study found a connection between the early symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and all types of overwhelming foods in addition to bread and cereals.
This is estimated to be due to the fact that over -processed foods usually have fewer fiber, proteins and micronutrients – but they have added sugar, salt and saturated or trans fats.
They can also affect the balance of flora in the gut, while additives can increase inflammation.
“With a sample size exceeding 42,800 participants and a long follow -up period of up to 26 years, this study stands out not only for its power but also for its methodological rigor,” wrote the authors of a corresponding article published together with the study.

In the new study, published Wednesday in the magazine Neurologythe researchers looked at the precursor stage of Parkinson’s disease – early signs that appear years to decades ago, such as trembling, stiff muscles, slow walking and changes in posture.
Pain in the body, constipation, signs of depression, changes in the ability to smell or perception of colors, and excessive sleepiness during the day can be early signs of Parkinson’s disease, according to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
An extremely unusual sleep disorder, in which people can move during REM, or fast -moving stages of sleep eye, is also a key early sign, according to research.
The study found that people who ate about 12 portions of over -processed foods per day – compared to people who ate only three – were 2.5 times more likely to show three or more than the early signs of Parkinson’s disease.
In addition, the consumption of more hyper -treatment foods was associated with an increased risk for almost all symptoms other than constipation, according to the study. This finding was even true after researchers took into account other factors, such as age, physical activity and smoking, which could affect the results.
