by

The Municipal Health Department of São Paulo anticipated for this Tuesday (29) the beginning of vaccination against influenza in the elderly over 70 years.

The immunization of people over 80, which had also been advanced, began last Sunday (27) across the state. So far, 13,969 seniors in this age group have been vaccinated, according to the secretary.

In a note, the folder reported that vaccination against the influenza virus continues until June 3 throughout the capital.

The trivalent influenza vaccine used in Brazil this year features three types of virus strains in combination and protects against H1N1, H3N2 and B/Victoria subtypes, according to the secretary.

In addition to flu vaccination, the posts will immunize children, adolescents and adults against Covid-19.

The elderly will also be able to take the opportunity to receive the fourth dose of the Covid vaccine, provided they have taken the third dose at least four months ago.

According to the folder, vaccines against Covid and influenza can be administered simultaneously in the population over 12 years, without the need for an interval between doses. Children aged 5 to 11 years should wait a period of 15 days between the two immunizations and prioritize vaccination against the new coronavirus.

For immunization, the secretary recommends the presentation of identification with photo and vaccination card.

Immunization against influenza, as well as Covid, is carried out in all Basic Health Units (UBSs), Outpatient Medical Assistance (AMAs) / Integrated UBSs, megaposts and drive-thru in the capital.
