The new free telephone number for any issues related to health services in Greece is in operation tomorrow, July 15.

Specifically, at a press conference by the Ministry of Health, in the presence of the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Deputy Minister of Development Nikos Papathanassis, the new telephone line comes to replace about 100 existing telephone lines today.

It is worth pointing out that it is not replaced in 166 for emergency services and a call for EKAB.

The Ministry of Health, taking advantage of the resources of the recovery fund changes the NHS“Adonis Georgiadis said. He noted that “1566” becomes a free telephone number for health services in Greece. He explained that the idea was born by the “1535” that operates in the Ministry of Labor, which changed everything in contact with the citizen.

According to the minister, not only the citizen will address the 1566 but also in 1566 will inform citizens of services they are entitled to (afternoon surgeries, preventive examinations).

The Minister of Health has spoken of a powerful tool that will evolve along the way.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Finance Nikos Papathanassis referred to cooperation with the Ministry of Health to implement projects that improve the daily life of the citizen, noting that 14% of the resources of the recovery fund are directed to similar projects. Referring to the new line, Mr. Papathanassis said he would provide information and service and universal access to the citizens to health services.

Undersecretary of Health Marios Themistokleous said that “1566” is the way to make the NHS accessible to everyone.

The full development of the new “1566” telephone line system includes three phases and will be ready next year.
