Through this process, they will have access to a series of tests, but also to new, high -cost anti -obesity drugs.
The Deputy Minister underlined that the obesity is directly related to socio -economicnoting that the highest rates occur in poorer households, who often do not have access to new costs. For this reason, the state covers the relevant expenditure, while providing compulsory nutritional counseling to ensure better results.
Renal Dysfunction Prevention Program
The second program concerns the prevention of kidney dysfunction to citizens who have been diagnosed with hypertension, diabetes or heart disease through the prevention program of cardiovascular disease. These citizens will also receive an electronic referral with SMS for specific tests, with the aim of detecting possible kidney damage to the timely, to prevent the development of kidney failure.
International distinction for prevention policies
Irene Agapidakis also referred to the international distinction of Greece by the UN and the World Health Organization For the prevention of chronic diseases and childhood obesity. He also pointed out that out of the 6 million beneficiaries of the “PRESSOI” program, 4 million citizens have already done free preventive exams, which proves citizens’ confidence in public health and the importance of prevention.
