by

For the second day in a row, Brazil had a moving average of Covid cases above 17,000. The moving average for this Saturday (14) was 17,682, representing a growth of 19% compared to data from two weeks ago.

In total, the country recorded 90 deaths from Covid and 15,015 cases of the disease in the last 24 hours. With this update, the country has lost 664,920 lives and 30,677,508 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Almost a month ago, on April 15, the average number of cases was approximately 17,000, but since then it has dropped to 12,413. Then, it gradually rose again and yesterday it reached 17,537.

The average number of deaths this Saturday was 106, indicating stability (no variations greater than 15%), with a drop of 14% compared to two-week data.

The country’s data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of a collaboration between Folha, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate figures related to the new coronavirus pandemic.

The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

The consortium of press vehicles stopped updating the numbers of vaccinated against Covid-19 on weekends and holidays. On business days, the data will be updated normally. The measure aims to avoid inaccuracies in the numbers provided to the reader.

The change occurs due to problems in the consolidation of vaccination data by state secretariats. Several states do not update the total number of vaccinated on weekends and holidays, and even those that do sometimes report outdated numbers, which do not correspond to reality and are usually corrected in the following days.
