Think graphic eyeliner, bold and bright eyeshadow, and whimsical nail art. Without makeup, makeup would go nowhere.

This is evidenced by the recent “pretty girl aesthetic” trend on TikTok. This minimal beauty restored as glass hair, glass skin, and 2 minutes of makeup.

The latest take on this trend comes in the form of “Exercise Lips,” a makeup trend that New York-based makeup artist Kelly Anthywell first shared with this look on Instagram.

“Basically, these are the cross lips that I wear to the gym, and that’s very natural,” she told Tik Tok explaining the trend.

The important thing is to have a lip liner that is the color of your lips… and redraw and fill in your lips.

“Then I’m going to treat my lips with something that moisturizes them.”

With two simple ultra-natural makeup looks, you can wear them anywhere, regardless of name, like convenience stores, movie nights, and dates.

“I used to wear it on my lips on the way to the gym, so I used to call it a workout lip at first,” Kelly explained in another video.

TikTok’s #gymlips hashtag has been viewed 170,000 times, and this trend is boldly taking the internet by storm.

Kelly Trend is popular for its simplicity – all you need is a lip liner and lip mascara.

“Exercise lips are a cross-lip technique that looks natural when you use just two products,” says Saffron Hughes, makeup artist at False Eyelashes. “The trend is to give natural, supple lips with minimal effort.”

The method is the following.

  • Find a lip liner that matches the natural color of your lips.
  • Cover your lips a little with a lip liner, lightly apply the rest of your lips and blend with your fingers.
  • Then apply lip balm/mask/balm

And lo and behold, you have it, the best no-makeup lip look.
