Worth seeing in these areas (Photo: Zoopla / Getty /)

If you want to climb the real estate ladder without saving for years, you can broaden your search.

House prices have risen significantly in the UK (especially in London), but there are some areas that are slightly more affordable than others.

The most recent data from Halifax looked at median home prices in different parts of the country and compared them to typical base salaries to determine property availability.

They found that Inverclide was the most affordable place to buy a home in the West of Scotland, with typical house prices just 3.1 times the median income.

This is very good, especially when compared to places like London, where the average household is almost 10 times your salary.

So what areas are worth studying?
