The Great Happiness Interview: How to Boost Your Energy

by

I just finished interviewing the energetic and inspiring Simon Alexander Ong, a celebrity and award-winning life coach. A smile remains on my face.

“Energy is contagious,” he explains. “If you’ve seen a Star Wars movie you probably call the energy ‘force’, if you practice yoga you call it prana, if you’re from my Chinese culture you call it ‘qi’. People who are closely associated with you in areas of your life , whether the energy is positive or negative.

You can create waves of inspiration and tsunamis of chaos. Think of energy as a form of force that we need to live and thrive.

Later, you find yourself sketching out new business ideas and creating mind maps of how to bring them to life. I feel energized and focused. I am “infected” with Simon’s energy. he would have been delighted. His recently published book Energize: Make the Most of Every Moment teaches us how to harness our natural energy to get the most out of life.

“When we surround ourselves with the right people, run our energy against time, and focus on filling our tanks and emptying them, we become ‘unstoppable,’” he says.

Here, Simon talks about how we can harness our energy to thrive.

What is the secret of happiness?

The secret to happiness is knowing who you are, what makes you feel alive, and acting on your natural talents.

Unfortunately, we tend to forego happiness due to other people’s definitions.

There is a big difference between success and performance. A nice house, a nice car, a good salary, a good position, you may seem successful on the outside, but you may feel pain on the inside because you are not satisfied.

How is energy related to happiness?

Energy has four dimensions: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

When we direct our energy, we start with the physical first. I often tell people to get more rest, move more, and eat better, especially when they’re not feeling well. It is obvious to start here.

But that doesn’t automatically make you happy. Because if you don’t tap into your mental, emotional, and spiritual energies as well, you’re really missing out on a huge piece of the puzzle.

How to put all the pieces of the puzzle together?

Energy is that universal language that is communicated without words, but that everyone understands and feels. Energy knows when you’re on the wrong track, in a toxic relationship, or betraying your core values.

And while it’s as invisible as the Force in Star Wars, it speaks to how our words often struggle to communicate through emotion. After all, emotions are just energy in motion.

Your energy is everything. It is the fuel that drives true success, success that fills you, and empowers you to reach your potential. How can you be your best self if you are always tired, stressed and exhausted?

Why is energy management important as our lives change?

When you feel energized, you become the main architect of your future and nothing feels insurmountable. We believe that we cannot stop. This activates the ability to perform the alchemy of effort, transforming the invisible into the visible and the impossible into the possible.

Understanding how to awaken, grow, and protect this energy force brings to life what we believe to be possible while on Earth.

If you lack energy, you will make poor decisions, be easily annoyed by little things, and fall short of your full potential. This is not an ideal scenario, but it is an unfortunate reality for many.

The ability to harness energy is the key to self-mastery. Energy is a powerful force, and the better you manage it, the greater the impact it will have on your life and work. This is a truth understood by the most successful people in the world.

You were not born into this world to pay bills, access social media, answer endless emails, watch TV, and die.

How do you manage your energy?

We need to shift our focus from time management to energy management. Control and manage your energy in the same way that you already try to manage your time.

Living in the flow of energy means connecting with your true self by focusing on living a meaningful and purposeful life. This is an essential skill to master if you are serious about realizing your potential. Because the best work comes only from focusing on what is important to you.

But it’s so easy to get distracted…

You were not born into this world to pay bills, access social media, answer endless emails, watch TV, and die. You were born with unique talents and talents. And discovering what they are and how they can be shared with the world is the great adventure of life.

I have many ideas, but I can’t put them into practice.

Enthusiasms, ideas and conversations are shared. Commitment, performance and consistency are rare.

The trap most people fall into is the idea that you have to get to the mythical point where you have to understand everything and be ready before you can take the first step.

Don’t be like most people. Free your mind of this thought. Everyone understands it like you.

Action is the path that leads you from uncertainty to clarity, and nothing like a reminder of how short the life that drives action is.

How do I start

The bolder the vision, the bigger the goal, which is scary and exciting at the same time.

However, how you approach it makes the difference between procrastination and progress. And nothing accelerates progress like uncertainty.

The key to avoiding the overwhelming feeling of achieving a big goal is to break it down into small steps and small actions that make the road ahead less difficult.

Starting where you are, making a small profit will give you the energy to keep moving forward.

How is it going

In any endeavor, success is a slow, step-by-step process, and ultimately rewards those who follow that path consistently and are able to do the work most people don’t want to do, but don’t. If you dig into just about every “overnight success story,” you’ll find years of hard work, dedication, and persistence.

And this ability to live each day with purpose is one of the most valuable qualities you can develop.

Falling in love is very easy. Although it is difficult to fall in love with the work itself, the process, the journey itself.

Success is not a random act and people do nothing. Too many people today pray for great change and results, but don’t realize that if what you want really matters, it can be as pleasant as the view from above.

Successful outcomes are rarely the result of a single choice, but are based on good choices over time.

How do you make sure you’re on the right track?

Consider the following:

  1. If your average day repeated itself every day for the next five years, would you be closer to or further from your ideal state?
  2. What does this tell you about your habits?
  3. If you feel like your current daily habits are holding you back, what should you change and when?

How do you know you’re going in the right direction?

No one knows what the future holds or if we will succeed, but the moment we decide to act, the next steps toward realizing our vision become clear. And this next step is all it takes to take action.

The entire map is invisible at first, such as when entering unknown magic.

As an entrepreneur friend of mine once told me, “When things are unknown, brother, anything is possible.”

There is a big difference between success and performance.

What can you do to increase your energy?

Think of someone you can thank. It can be a partner, a family friend, a colleague, or anyone else. And write why you chose them. What have they done for you? Or what would life be like without them?

Then pick up the phone, call the person, and tell them exactly what you wrote in step 2. If you don’t feel comfortable calling and talking to someone, leave an audio recording or voice message so they can hear what you read. Voices carry energy, so it’s important to listen to them.

Studies show that this experiment has powerful effects on mood and energy. Another easy way to increase your energy is to move your body.

training?

Yes, ask yourself every day: “How do you want to feel today?” If you want to feel happy, move your body. Even light exercise improves blood circulation and instantly changes the way you think and the state of your mind.

You may not want to exercise at the beginning of the day, but you’ll never regret doing it.

Sometimes you feel like you have too much to do and are too tired to exercise.

Many of us are tired not because we have done too much, but because we are doing too little that brings us joy. It does not give us spiritual energy. We often come across someone else’s race, so we ride this hamster wheel that someone else made.

But how do you get off the hamster wheel?

Start by understanding how to stay focused on what’s important in today’s world.

If you can focus on what matters most in six months, you can make a lot more progress than most people make in years or even decades.

But one thing you can do right away is focus on yourself instead of all the distractions and understand yourself to improve your life.
