(News Bulletin 247) – Tesla will open part of its charging network in the United States to electric vehicles from other brands, a first in the company’s history, the White House announced on Wednesday.
The Californian group intends to open more than 7,500 charging stations to all electric vehicles by the end of 2024, the Biden administration has explained.
Of this figure, no less than 3,500 ‘superchargers’, its fast charging stations installed along the highways, will be accessible to users of other brands with the aim of improving the autonomy of their vehicles.
The project must also concern the network of so-called ‘destination’ charging stations, located near hotels and restaurants in town and in the countryside.
In order to have access to the group’s stations, drivers of electric cars from other brands will have to download the Tesla application or go to the company’s website.
The White House also specifies that Tesla has planned to more than double the density of its American network of “superchargers”, equipment which it currently manufactures in Buffalo (New York).
All of these announcements were made on the occasion of the presentation of the ‘Made-in-America’ electric vehicle charging network program developed by the Biden-Harris government.
