(News Bulletin 247) – Siemens Gamesa announces that its recyclable blade technology, RecyclableBlade, has reached another important milestone having been selected by RWE for 44 SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines to be installed on the Sofia offshore wind project , off the east coast of the UK. .
In 2022, RWE became the first large-scale commercial offshore developer to install Siemens Gamesa’s fully recyclable blade.
The Sofia project will use RecyclableBlades measuring 108 meters in length, which represents the first deployment of this variant.

As a reminder, the use of Siemens Gamesa’s RecyclableBlade technology allows the complete recovery of blade components at the end of the product’s life: resin, fiberglass and wood, among others, are separated using a mild acid solution.
