(News Bulletin 247) – To help future developers of commercial satellite constellations plan their missions and operate their systems, Lockheed Martin is now offering commercial licenses for its Horizon Command & Control (C2) and Compass Mission Planning software.

Horizon and Compass are based on an integrated and scalable modular architecture designed to meet specific customer needs. They provide a mission critical capability for small, medium or large constellations, which includes orbit management, autonomous operations and formation flying.

Lockheed Martin has used versions of Horizon and Compass software in more than 50 spacecraft, performing government, research and commercial space missions.

“Compass and Horizon allow companies to focus on providing services to their customers rather than managing the complexities of getting their satellites into orbit,” said Paul Koether, program manager at Lockheed Martin Space.
