(News Bulletin 247) – The Volkswagen group reports that its Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand delivered 4.6 million vehicles worldwide in 2022, a figure down 6.8% compared to the previous year.
The brand’s turnover nevertheless increased by 8.7% from one year to the next, to stand at 74 billion euros. Operating income (excluding exceptional impacts) amounted to 2.6 billion euros (i.e. +22.5% compared to 2021), with operating profitability up by 0.4 pt, at 3.6%.
In a context of major geopolitical uncertainties, sharp rises in commodity and energy prices, supply chain tensions and pandemic-related constraints in China, ‘our cost reduction measures and to improve profitability were effective and made it possible to record a solid result in a difficult context,” underlines Patrik Andreas Mayer, the brand’s chief financial officer (CFO).
With nearly 330,000 units delivered, in 2022 the company will see its global deliveries of fully electric vehicles rise by 23.6% year-on-year. Volkswagen now intends to further accelerate the transition to electromobility: by 2030, eight out of ten vehicles sold in Europe should be fully electric models
Volkswagen specifies that its order book currently stands at more than 660,000 vehicles, all engines combined and just for Europe, including nearly 100,000 ID models. fully electric.
