(Reuters) – Iliad on Thursday reported organic revenue growth of 6.9% in 2022, to 8.4 billion euros, driven by the rise in the number of subscribers in France, in Italy and Poland, the three markets in which it operates.
The French telecommunications group posted a current operating profit before taking into account depreciation and amortization (EbitdaAL) pro forma organic growth of 8.0% to 3.3 billion euros. “We are the telecom operator with the strongest organic growth in Europe,” chief executive Thomas Reynaud said in a conference call, adding that Iliad’s massive investments in 4G and 5G, as well as the expansion beyond its historical borders were bearing fruit. In Poland, where Iliad bought broadband operator UPC from Liberty Global last year, the group gained 687,000 new subscribers. Iliad also acquired 862,000 new subscribers in France, and 1.06 million in Italy. The group, which its founder Xavier Niel delisted two years ago, has reached agreements to extend its fiber optic offer in Italy to meet demand for ultra-fast connections.
Iliad did not give a detailed outlook, but said it was confident for 2023, given last year’s good momentum and despite an uncertain economic environment.
