(News Bulletin 247) – Fundación Ikerbasque, the Basque Science Foundation of the Spanish Basque Country, and IBM today presented details of their partnership to make the Basque Country ‘a leading technology hub’.
The partnership includes the adoption of quantum computing through the launch of the IBM-Euskadi Quantum Computing Center, which will provide Qiskit execution services from a 127-qubit IBM Quantum System One located in San Sebastián and managed by IBM.
IBM and IkerBasque share a common mission on the role of quantum computing as a key element of the Government of the Basque Country’s Ikur 2030 vision for quantum technologies.
This initiative aims to advance quantum research, build a quantum workforce, promote economic development, and provide the quantum computing infrastructure needed to achieve these goals.
Finally, the IBM-Euskadi Quantum Computing Center will promote the use of cutting-edge technology through international research collaborations and world-class fundamental scientific research.
