(News Bulletin 247) – Airbus announces that the Eurofighter program will guarantee a total of 26,000 jobs in Spain until 2060, a figure from a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) financed by Airbus.

The report specifies that the manufacturing (2020-2030) and maintenance (2023-2060) phases of the Halcon and Quadriga programs will create an average of 657 jobs – direct, indirect and induced – per year, or 26,000 jobs by 2060.

The two Eurofighter Tranche 4 contracts are expected to contribute nearly €1.7 billion to Spanish GDP, with Halcon manufacturing and maintenance generating around €1.5 billion and Quadriga production accounting for €200 million. remaining.

As a reminder, signed in June 2022, the Halcon contract consists of the acquisition of 20 Eurofighter aircraft. It follows the Quadriga contract, signed in 2020, which involved the delivery of 38 new Eurofighter aircraft to the German Air Force (Luftwaffe).

The Halcon program will see the Spanish Eurofighter fleet grow to 90 aircraft, with first delivery scheduled for 2026, securing industrial production activity until 2030, Airbus points out.
