(News Bulletin 247) – Michelin announced yesterday that it is supporting the creation of a joint venture between Scandinavian Enviro Systems and Antin Infrastructure Partners, a structure which will thus become ‘the first industrial-scale tire recycling group in the world’.
The joint venture will rely in particular on Enviro’s exclusive and patented technology for extracting carbon black and pyrolysis oil from used tires, on Michelin’s leadership as a manufacturer of sustainable tires and on Antin’s expertise in the development of sustainable infrastructures.
The joint venture has entered into a multi-year supply agreement with Michelin for the first factories. This agreement with Michelin includes a supply of regenerated carbon black and pyrolysis oil from tires.
Michelin also plans to join this joint venture as the factories are built.
Construction of the plant, subject to a final investment decision by the joint venture, is expected to start in the first half of 2023. It is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
