(News Bulletin 247) – Linde announced on Friday that it has started delivering liquid hydrogen to power the world’s first hydrogen-powered ferry.
The industrial gas producer specifies that this clean hydrogen will be used by the Norwegian operator Norled, which recently took delivery of the ‘MF Hydra’, a ship specializing in the transport of passengers and cars.
Linde says it was also responsible for the design and installation of the containment tank, refueling system, onboard storage and fuel handling equipment.
After successfully completing its test phase, the ferry has now started its commercial activities.
“Hydrogen is helping to decarbonize mobility around the world, mainly in long-distance transport such as rail and trucks,” said Armando Botello, president of the Northern Europe region at Linde.
