(News Bulletin 247) – Nexans is launching a new range of low-carbon distribution network cables, the first on the French market. The Group has succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its low and medium voltage cables by 35% to 50%, depending on the product.

“This unprecedented offer illustrates our teams’ commitment to sustainable development,” says Yvan Duperray, Executive Vice-President of Nexans’ Power Distribution Cables & Accessories business.

In order to reduce the carbon footprint of its products, Nexans acts on several factors. The company guarantees the use of 100% low carbon aluminium; 50% recycled plastic in insulation and/or sheath; acts on the manufacturing process, transport and selects its suppliers according to their environmental performance.

Nexans also offers a range of solutions (engineering studies, digital solutions, etc.) aimed at reducing the cable’s carbon footprint over its entire life cycle.

This first offer is part of Nexans’ ambitious carbon trajectory, validated by the Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi), aiming to reduce emissions by 4.2% per year between 2019 and 2030.
