(News Bulletin 247) – TotalEnergies announces today that it has launched, on the site of its Antwerp refinery in Belgium, a battery park project intended for energy storage with a power of 25 MW and a capacity of 75 MWh, or the equivalent of the daily consumption of nearly 10,000 households.

After commissioning four battery parks in France for a total of 130 MWh, this project is the largest European battery installation for TotalEnergies.

The batteries, i.e. 40 Intensium Max High Energy lithium-ion containers, will be supplied by Saft, the batteries subsidiary of TotalEnergies, which thus confirms its position as European leader in industrial-scale stationary storage.

This installation, which will be operational by the end of 2024, will contribute to the needs of the European and Belgian high-voltage transmission network by ensuring a daily smoothing of electricity on the national network, by guaranteeing the security of the network and will make it possible to further integrate of renewable electricity on the grid.

‘TotalEnergies intends to deploy its storage solutions, particularly in countries where the Company is actively developing renewable energies,’ underlines Olivier Jouny, senior vice-president Integrated Power at TotalEnergies.
