(News Bulletin 247) – Holcim announces today that it will deploy up to 1,000 Volvo electric trucks by 2030. Delivery of the first trucks will begin in the fourth quarter of 2023. This is the largest commercial order to this day for Volvo electric trucks.
Both companies are founding members of the First Movers Coalition (FMC), a coalition of companies that use their buying power to create early markets for innovative clean technologies.
This agreement is part of a broader partnership between Holcim and the Volvo Group to deploy electric trucks across all Holcim operations in Europe by 2030.
Replacing diesel trucks with electric trucks will reduce CO2 emissions from road transport by 50% per year.
Jan Jenisch, Chairman and CEO of Holcim, said: ‘Decarbonizing the logistics of our European operations through electric fleets will allow us to reach our goal of 30% zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles by 2030.’
