(News Bulletin 247) – Helena Helmersson, chief executive of the H&M group, has been named co-chair of the Fashion Pact steering committee.
She succeeds Fashion Pact co-founder François-Henri Pinault, CEO of Kering, who remains a member of the steering committee. Helena Helmersson will work with Fashion Pact co-founder Paul Polman who was re-elected as co-chair for a further three years.
The Fashion Pact represents one third of the global fashion industry and is committed to mitigating the impact of climate change, restoring biodiversity and protecting the oceans.
The initiative brings together CEOs and senior executives to accelerate joint actions from suppliers to retailers, and in its next phase it will expand across the value chain.
‘Now is the time to accelerate emissions reduction and decarbonization activities down the value chain. Only by coming together can we create real change,” said Helena Helmersson, CEO of H&M Group.
“This sector has a long way to go, but no CEO or company can tackle these issues alone,” adds Paul Polman, Co-Chair of Fashion Pact.
